This is an interview with Dr. Ali Jawaid.

Dr. Ali Jawaid - a physician and scientist with both clinical and neurological training. He received his medical degree from the Aga Khan University in Karachi, Pakistan, and completed a neuropsychiatry residency at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, TX, USA. He then completed his MD-PhD in neurology in Switzerland. Currently, Dr. Ali Jawaid is the Head of the Translational Research in Neuropsychiatric Diseases (TREND Lab) at the Nencki Institute in Warsaw. Dr. Jawaid has worked extensively in the areas of childhood trauma, memory, neurodegenerative disorders, neuroepigenetics, and epigenetic inheritance. He has published over 75 times in leading scientific journals, including Nature, Science, Nature Neuroscience, Nature Human Behavior, Neuron, Nature Communications, Trends in Genetics, EMBO Journal, and Molecular Neurodegeneration (h-index=29). He is currently a fellow of the FENS-Kavli Network of Excellence, a platform of 30 of the most distinguished neuroscientists in Europe who have completed their doctorate within 15 years. In addition to his academic work, he is a fiction writer, poet, and virtual reality enthusiast.
