In this video, I draw an owl in stages. I work in stages in dry pastel on Fabriano's paper of light yellow color. I start with a general linear outline, mark, I have eyes, a beak, eyebrows and so on. A fragment dedicated to the composition, the focus is on these parts. I do not attach to specific parts, I draw lines across the whole sheet. Then immediately turn to the drawing of a spot. I lay light parts of feathers with white pastel, paint yellow eyes. Gray soot beak, a shadow under the head and some tone strokes in the colors of the owl. Black pastel at once both sides and eyes, reinforce the tone on the beak. Add black to feathers.
Next, add a brown and cream subtone. I add a little yellow shade to brown near my eyes. In the eyes for depth, I make a brown pastel shade, a little light green in a semicircle, and draw a pupil, add a violet glow to the center of it. Glare paint over light blue pastel and white, specks, rounded in the shape of the eyeball. I also add orange and lime spots in my eyes. And further I study plumage with sharp strokes, I try to imitate owl feathers. I use for this pastel gray, black, brown, blue and white. Beak illuminate the light blue flare.
