In 2020 56.2% of the global population lived in cities. This percentage has been constantly increasing in recent years and is expected to reach 70% by 2050. Cities are going to play a steadily bigger role in how we — humans — live and thrive.
There has been a lot of hype around cities being smart and technologically enabled, but was this done for the right reasons? Technology has incredible potential, but it needs to be useful to people, designed around and for people.
In Trondheim, NTNU’s Sustainable Smart Cities initiative has been working on making cities sustainable, using technology to enable this transition. Sustainability, with citizens at its core, is the goal, not the implementation of new technology per se.
Our experts, Annemie Wyckmans and Morten Wolden, with stories to share will chat with Karianne Tung, Technoport’s CEO, about what has been done and what still needs to be achieved in Trondheim and Trøndelag.
In the panel you'll meet:
■ Annemie Wyckmans, Head of NTNU Smart Sustainable Cities
■ Morten Wolden, Director, Trondheim Municipality
■ Karianne Tung, CEO of Technoport
