Unlocking Samsung 320PX LCD Safety Lock
My Samsung 320PX commercial LCD monitor was safety locked and did not respond to presses on its front panel. I did not have the remote control to reset the safety lock. So I kludged a makeshift USB to RS232 serial interface from various old computer parts. Or you could just use a USB to Serial DB9 cable that uses the common Prolific PL2303 chip along with a female to female DB9 cable. I use kludged a OneTouch Glucose Meter cable, a MAX232 chip and an old Palm III RS232 dock with a female DB9 cable along with some IC chip test leads .

Install the Prolific USB driver and download Cooltermmac (I use a Mac)
Select the OPTIONS - USBSERIAL driver
Use SEND STRING with HEX
send AA 5D FE 00 5B to get the status
Monitor will respond
AA FF FE 03 41 5D 01 9F - which means safety lock (01) is on
to set safety lock off
AA 5D FE 01 00 5C
Now monitor will respond to front panel. Turn monitor on and off and press power on the remote. It will then pair with the remote.
