wednesday 2021was not his sunset, it was his sunrise.
He did not pass away, he passed the final test.
Though he has completed his Temporary Tour Of Duty (TDY) on Planet Earth,
he has left a daily legacy amongst us since the day of his birth.
He lived his life with dignity, passion and fashion.
He set out to make a difference everyday.
He stood strong against wrong,
always determined to find the right way..
What if he had said, 'Oh, I just work here,' when he found out there was a possibility that Prince could be dropped.
He was indignant, with the swagger of a king. His attitude said it all, 'Not on my watch.'
I haved asked myself many times since last Wednesday, how do I tell people that the story of Mojo and Prince, begans with the story of Mojo and Larry Davis. Along with Ted Joseph, the always colorful Billy Sparks, Quinton Perry and Harry Todd, Larry's cousin also the limousine driver for our cruise around Belle Isle.
The last thing he said to me after we drove around Belle Isle and listened to the album entitles PRINCE, was, a line from Star Wars, 'Help us Oh Obi-Wan Kanobi, you are our only hope.'
The last time I spoke with Larry was on my birthday, September 12th 2021.
Purple Rain my brother, Purple Rain. Rest in the arms of God and say hello to Prince. we miss you both.

While it is palpable to focus on how he died, on the flip side of the coin, there are a panoply of reasons to focus on how he lived.

Davis, 68, was on the phone with a friend when he realized his home on East Vernor in Detroit was on fire. The person on the phone could tell he was trying to put the fire out.
"A passerby saw him in the window screaming and asking for help."
Harry Todd says his cousin did not make it out alive
"Because of the bars on the windows upstairs that’s the reason why he perished," Todd said.
Investigators were still at the house Wednesday afternoon searching for answers. They said the investigation is ongoing.
"Detroit Fire Department, Detroit Police Department, the arson squad, they’re doing a hell of a job in trying to figure out what happened and tried to save my cousin," he said.
Not only did this fire claim a precious life, but it also destroyed the family home.
"This was our family home, 3643 East Werner Highway," said Todd said. "Everyone of my family grew up and went to school here all of our memories are right there."
As painful as this tragedy is, Harry Todd says he wants to remember all the wonderful things his cousin accomplished during his 69 years, primarily in the music industry.

"He fell in love with the music industry years ago," Todd said. "He was an A&R guy for Warner Bros and CBS Records," Todd said. "He was really involved with artist development and cultivation. He was really connected with the local radio scene, the Electrifying Mojo, Tiger Dan."
Todd says his cousin also helped jumpstart careers.
"He really believed in giving local artists breaks," he said. "There’s an artist named Prince, his first song got broken in Detroit through the work of Larry Davis and Charles Johnson a.k.a. Electrifying Mojo."
Todd says he would often cook food for his cousin and bring it to the family home. He hopes this tragedy sends a strong message to anyone who will listen.
"Stay in touch, stay in touch with one another," he said.
