How to perform engine wash on aircraft
Turbine engine compressor wash is the single most cost-effective maintenance procedure for any jet engine. Engine performance is affected by both gas turbine thermal efficiency and mechanical health of components. Since the compressor typically consumes 60-70 percent of power generated, compressor washing is critical to engine management.
Contamination in the compressor section leads to deteriorating thermal efficiency and causes reduced engine performance. Furthermore, damage to compressor blades caused by contamination can lead to engine failure.
