Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga is a Sri lankan politician who served as the president of Sri Lanka from 1994 to 2005 and also as the Prime minister. She was the first woman president of the country. She belongs to a political background where both her father and mother served as the prime minister of Sri Lanka. She retired from politics in 2015 and continues to work for Sri Lanka through the CBK foundation for Democracy and Justice (FDJ) and South-Asian Policy and Research Institute (SAPRI) a non-profit body.
