Chen Zhe’s piece was composed using material from the classic Jingyun Dagu work Chou Mo Yin Chu. The music is rich in an authentic, unadulterated old-Beijing flavor, vividly portraying the morning life of old Beijing’s neighborhoods—some residents at ease and leisurely, others bustling about in a busy rhythm.
