Today we are discussing New & Used solar panels. New bifacial solar panels were $120 with free freight when bought and recently bought used mono & bifacial solar panels from $18-$30 each for 240-400 watts mixed manufactures lots. We tested some mono panels with watt, amp and voltage single solar panel tester and have found averages for most panels. We realize that the in series 8-10 solar panels up to 500 volt dc PV input into EG4 3000 watt inverter is much more efficient than 4 solar panels in series trying to stay under 150 volt dc PV input into Growatt 12kw low frequency inverter where we have to use 12 sets in parallel to get to 12,000 watts. We barely get 7000 watts with so many parallel sets in solar array. Using a high voltage input if 500 volt PV input keeps the amps below 18-20 amps so you can use 10 AWG solar wire that is burial and sun proof. Using 12 sets in parallel with the 12kw Growatt is 6 set in parallel on each mppt which is 30-40 amps input and is too high at times for the 10 AWG amp rating. Wires can get hot. Only thing I did was change the wire coming into garage from solar panels to 8AWG. Links in description below.
