More info:
As many of you know the last couple of years YT has been playing around with the algorithm and how channels and videos are recommended etc… They have also created stricter guidelines on what can be monetized etc… On top of that when viewers hit that subscribe button they are not always seeing when creators upload as well as people are getting automatically unsubscribed to people. So many changes have happened due to controversial content being uploaded and larger creators making poor decisions and yet it seems that smaller creators are suffering whose content isn’t there for clickbait and who make different kinds/genres of videos. The most recent change that has been the tipping point for me is that I am losing my YT partnership after being on the platform for almost 5 yrs. This has not only hit me but many other smaller creators. The basis in which I am losing this partnership is because my watch time isn’t high and my channel growth high enough (I needed to gain 1000+ subs in the past year). The frustrating part about this is that I was getting video de-monetized for no reason (my content is very family friendly and follows guidelines), people are not always getting notified when I upload, some get unsubbed and my videos are not getting recommended as often in accordance to the new algorithms… most of which is YT’s doing not mine. I realize that I am not the most consistent when it comes to uploading and if that were the reason it would be more understandable. I want to put in here that videos that are monetized are more likely to be recommended or so it seems so that YT makes more money off of them at least when it comes to smaller creators. Losing monetization isn’t a huge deal because as many of you know I don’t make a significant amount of money on here. There are also other benefits of being a partner that I will be losing… the most obvious is being recommended and having certain permissions. I am at the point where I want to just cut the cord and start new since I feel like I am anyways. As I explained in the video I was going to begin integrating new content on this channel because it was my YT partnership channel but now I might as well just start a new channel since that is gone (or will be at the end of Feb).
I’ve Changed:
When I started my YT journey I was 25, lost, overweight, and occasionally depressed. I found crafting and it became my escape. I started YT and it became my community and outlet to feel connected to the world. As with anything in my life and maybe it is just my personality but I experience times of inspiration and my interests change frequently. I don’t always want to craft… I play a lot of video games, write, do other forms of crafting, read, bake, play magic cards… I want to be able to share all of that and as I said I was going to do that on here but I think it is time to start new because I am not the same person I was 5 years ago. I will be uploading on here when I have something craft related I want to share in a video… probably more around holidays but more frequent crafty goodness can be found on my crafting IG @darlingcraftolate It literally takes me several days to create a crafting video and at this time in my life it just isn’t what I want to do all the time… but when the mood strikes I will.
Final note:
Thank you to all of you who were here through everything and who were true supporters of me and my creative journey! I’m over here just doing what makes me happy and I hope that you all do the same. Much love, Raven.
