💥 Nooooo! The power’s out. The internet’s dead. The laptop crashed. Welcome to “The Fear Trifecta” when contemplating running an internet radio station from home. When I embarked on my broadband-assisted broadcasting journey, I was plagued by The Fear Trifecta.
Lacking confidence with a home set-up, 🚀 I blasted off for a solution in the clouds. That’s right, broadcasting buds and bud-ettes, I flipped the switch on hosting my all 80s station, XXX80s, on a V.P.S. Say it with me, “virtual private server”. Like a host for websites, a VPS kicks it up three notches with their ability to run programs. It’s just like your laptop…BUT, powerful, reliable and far from your desk.
If you’ve contemplated the how-to, but were spooked by the tech, I will dive deep and light the way. Running an internet station on a VPS isn’t as complicated as it sounds. If you’re good at following recipes, let’s whip up some virtual magic and plug your RadioDJ into the clouds.
💣 I can NO longer recommend my VPS provider, Cloudzy. They're no longer reliable. The server shuts off randomly a couple times every day. Now, they want me to delete all my files and upload to a new server...for the second time. Hell, no! Next!
