Far from a fair fight, this is to demonstrate why the RE20, and similar microphones, have been hanging in radio studios for decades. However, don’t dismiss discount mics. If you’ve got $80 to spend, find the best $80 mic and start building your broadcasting empire with that. Don’t let gear stand in the way of progress…unless it’s true crap (save $32 more and get one of these).
🔊 To get the most out of this review, listen with good headphones or studio speakers. It’s impossible to evaluate the sound from an iPhone 5 speaker.
Full Disclosure: FiFine was kind enough to send me the K688 and Tank 3 to test for free. BUT, you'll get my unbiased opinion.
More important, since sound is very personal, what do you think? Keep in mind, judge them for what they are--$80 mics. You’re not going to squeeze $400 sound from mics in this class.
