Reykjavik - The Old Harbour Bike Ride (Iceland - September 2021)
A bike ride in Reykjavik, Iceland around the Old Harbour in September, 2021. The Old Harbour in Reykjavik is a great place for a walk or a bike ride. It is a continued section of the Sculpture and Shore Path and contains museums, galleries, cafes, restaurants and some pedestrianized zones. We begin with a view of the Harpa Concert Hall and Conference Centre which is located in an area with new development and design improvements to provide an easier connection between the harbour and downtown.
We continue along the water past the ICGV Óðinn Coast Guard vessel and eventually turn North as we pass the Kolaportið flea market, Minør Locomotive, interpretive signage and a collection of sculptures.
Following that we cycle past a basketball court and a skateboard / BMX park. This was previously just a parking lot.
Next we enter a pedestrianized zone which contains a cinema, cafe, restaurants and retail. We turn West at the Whale Watching building and then enter another pedestrianized zone with seating and bike parking.
We finish the bike ride close to the Reykjavik Maritime Museum in front of Reykjavik Bike & Segway Tours and Fish and Chips Vagninn.
