Improving machine learning algorithms for seizure forecasting
Christian Meisel, MD, Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin, Berlin Institute of Health, Berlin, Germany, describes the implications and potential of seizure forecasting via machine learning, as well as the improvements necessary for broader clinical implementation. Dr Meisel explains that the algorithm performance improves if provided with larger datasets and that improving artificial intelligence systems could also be valuable. These avenues are being investigated in an attempt to improve the seizure forecasting accuracy to a level that is helpful to both patients and clinicians. This interview took place during the 34th International Epilepsy Congress, 2021.
