In the “Shecere-i Terakime" (Genealogy of Turkmens), Abū’l-Ghāzī wrote that Oghuz Khagan had lived five thousand years before the Prophet Muhammad and is the same ancestor of the Iranians. Furthermore Abu'l-Gazi states that:
"The eastern (border) of the Oğuz homeland was Isığ kül and Almalıq. The western (border) was Sayram and Qazğurt Mountain and Qarajıg Mountain. The northern (border) was Uluğ Mountain and Kičik where copper is mined. The southern (border) was the mouth of the Sır Daryâ (sír suynıng ayağı), Yängi Känt and Qarâ Qûm. In these places that have been named, they lived for four or five thousand years ..."
