Welcome to my pre-planting herb garden tour! In this video, I will share all the plants I'll be using in my new Tea and Herb garden. This garden will be close to the house so that I can harvest herbs, flowers, and berries to use in cooking and for medicinal needs. I review planting strategies, how to contain invasive herb and flower plants, what to look for in choosing plants, and what to know about plant toxicity. i remind you that no plants should be used for medicinal purposes without research and consulting your doctor.

The links below will be helpful for recipes and ideas for making salves, tinctures, and essential oils with your herbs and flowers, as well as a helpful guide to harvesting and using Elderberry. Elderberry is a plant that is both extremely beneficial and toxic if not treated with care. Only the berries and flowers are edible, and the berries only after cooking - it is not advisable to eat them raw. People with free-ranging chickens will have to consider accessibility issues - I plan on creating a tee-pee with netting to keep birds from eating my harvest and ingesting parts of the plant that are toxic.

I will be planting:
Lemon balm
Chamomile
Echinacea (Coneflower)
Mint
Oregano
Thyme
Lavender
Calendula
Yarrow
Elderberry (Black Lace)
