In this #short, I record a riff using the iRig Acoustic mic and mobile app (IK Multimedia) and the free Amped Roots plugin (ML Sound Labs and Fluff).
For acoustic, I'm running the iRig Acoustic mic and mobile app through my iPad into my audio interface. For electric, I'm running my Chapman Ghost Fret straight into my audio interface and using the Amped Roots Plugin in my DAW.
Opinions:
I’ve been very impressed with the iRig acoustic. Despite the mic’s unobtrusive size, it provides a full and clear signal. All aspects of the sound (including the effects and amp and guitar body sims) can be controlled from a mobile app that works for tablets and phones. I’ve used it live and for recordings and have not been disappointed by the quality of the tone. You can check out a concert my band performed using the iRig acoustic here.
