This is a long one. I don't think I mentioned how Dostoevsky's work, his characters, remind me of great paintings. However, if I did, and I'm too tired now to find the place, I was referring to El Greco and Van Eyck or at least I had them in mind in terms of colorful portraits with deep shadow. This balance of light and dark is just like Dostoevsky's best characters to me.
