What I have to say is this. As a scientific minded person and skeptic myself I made the experience once. I had a sleep paralysis I was very scared because I felt an evil presence in my room. It happened twice. On the third time I decided to get this down over. It was in the day and I allowed myself to fall inside a sleep paralysis. I can swear that I saw my room like it was and I even felt some strange balloon under my back. I thought I was awake. It was vivid and clear to me that I was awake. Then I awoke. And found it was all imaginary with respect to this reality. There was no balloon below my back whatsoever and somehow my mind had tricked me to think I was awake.
So it could be that all those fears are just manifestations of the mind where your deep anxieties manifest themselves and you live your nightmares. Since I cleared this for my own and got convinced it all imaginary I never had any strange sleep paralysis. But at the time I got that sleep paralysis I was quite troubled. I was quite depressed too. Then I decided to change my life and get things straight. Then I just never had the same fright again or any such kind of sleep paralysis. If I got it again there was never anything to fear.
It could be something subconscious as I clearly believe it is. It is the state of your mind. But since I am trying to bridge gaps between NDE experiences and the rest, who knows there is something relatively real to sleep paralysis?
Quite recently I had a sleep paralysis where I felt my pillow was flapping on my ear very rapidly. I felt it and heard it too. How is it possible? Then when I woke up I tested again and it felt not the same at first... then I tried to make it the same, then it seemed practically the same as I felt during the sleep paralysis. But I was not scared. I held my breath during that and I was not at all scared.
So during a sleep paralysis I believe we can see, hear, feel just about anything. Very strange but it is completely imaginary compared to this physical world or compared to someone else. But I heard there are cases during sleep paralysis where house animals like dogs start barking!! So ..am not so sure what to think ;)
