This video is about as a temporary visa holder how I got exemption for me and my family, and how I travelled to India to bring my family to Australia, the struggles that we faced to get the tickets and during our journey.
Here is our success story,
As the international borders were closed on 20 March 2020, my family was stuck in India due to COVID19 restrictions. As we are a temporary visa holders, my family couldn't travel to Australia without travel exemption. I have applied with all the available documents to prove the importance of reuniting, however, our family was not exempted to travel. My 2 years old son was facing health issues, sleeping pattern was also affected and increasing his anxiety.
Apparently, we got our exemption approved on our 5th attempt. I was so excited to see my son but here comes the next challenge. We were not getting flight tickets as the preference was given to PR holders and citizens. On the other hand, my wife couldn't travel alone with my kid due to his anxiety. Therefore, I have applied exemption for me again and I got it on multiple attempts.
I have travelled to bring my family but I got stuck in India. My son has forgotten me but after few minutes he was able to recognize me. The first target was achieved as we have reunited. Besides, we were not getting tickets, hence, visited Air India office every day to get the tickets but it was hopeless. Luckily, after couple of months we got the tickets through one travel agent but it was a long journey. We had to travel from Chennai -- Cochin -- Maldives -- Singapore -- Perth -- Adelaide.
As the first step we had to undergo Covid test at Chennai. But Singapore government will consider the report only within 72 hours. Therefore, we stayed in Maldives for a day to take the Covid test as they take 24 hours to provide the report.
Finally, after many hurdles we were able to reach Perth and undergo 14 days mandatory quarantine. We had to take Covid test again on day1 and day12 and the report should be negative to complete the quarantine. In our entire trip, we were not provided proper food, even for the kid. Therefore, I suggest everyone to keep instant foods handy. Though the journey was long and faced many struggles, we have reached Australia successfully.
