Current mirrors are circuits designed to make a copy of a current. This MOSFET current mirror copies a 100 μA current of the source to the load resistor. It consists of a pair of well-matched n-channel transistors. Both transistors are biased in saturation mode where the current is mostly determined by the gate-source voltage, and not very sensitive to the drain-source voltage. Since the two transistors have the same gate-source voltages, the currents are very similar.
An equivalent current mirror can be built from two p-channel transistors. More advanced MOSFET current mirrors make a more precise copy of the current by attempting to also match the drain-source voltages.
Adjust the width of the input transistor and note that the ratio of the currents is close to the ratio of the widths. You could save some power by lowering the input current and the input transistor width by say 10x, while the output current stays at the desired value.
