On November 4, 2024, President Bola Tinubu directed the immediate release of all minors detained for their alleged involvement in the August #EndBadGovernance protests. Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, announced this directive during an emergency briefing at the Aso Rock Villa in Abuja. The President also instructed the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction to ensure the welfare and smooth reintegration of these minors with their families. Additionally, an administrative committee, led by the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, will be established to examine the circumstances surrounding the arrests, detention, treatment, and release of these minors. Furthermore, all law enforcement agents involved in the arrests and legal processes will be investigated, and any found culpable of infractions will face appropriate disciplinary action.
