Historically, Muslims and critics of Islam alike have taken the historical narrative surrounding Muhammad, the putative founder of Islam as a given. Robert Spencer wants to change that, arguing he is pure legend and his new book, Muhammad: A Critical Biography seeks to explain why the standard story just doesn't work.
