How to knit (or crochet) fairy wings | p.s. they light up too!
It’s fairy season🧚♀️ Welcome to the full walkthrough and breakdown on how I knitted these fairy wings :) I remember when I first sketched these out I noticed how loosely knitted mohair looked a lot like the veins of butterfly wings! Though these wings are freehanded, I’ve included instructions on how I knit and shaped the wings.
I wasn’t able to film the crochet instructions before my camera got corrupted, but they are included in this walkthrough! (Kindly consider subbing so I can get a new camera, RIP Sony a5100 2016-2023💖) Unfortunately I got sick halfway through editing this and couldn’t record the voiceover for the second half🥲 but I hope you enjoy this tutorial! Life may throw obstacles at us but we persevere for the sake of the magic😤
Materials:
~Drizzle Mohair/Silk Super Fine Yarn by Sugar Bush Yarns - #8015 Royal Rain
~Premier Afternoon Cotton in Dark Indigo
~at least 25 feet of gauge 16 wire, copper preferred if you plan to solder instead of tape
~duct tape (your skin tone preferred so that it blend in)
~head pins, a one step looper, and jump rings
~beads/chains for decorating
