Hey everyone! Welcome back!
In today’s video I’m going to show you how I used bentonite clay on my natural hair.
I’ve used bentonite clay in the past but I haven’t been consistent. I used it a few times last year and only once this year. I plan to do them at least once a month from now on.
I just love how my hair looks and feels after this DIY treatment, and I find that it really cleanses my hair and scalp.
Some of the main benefits of bentonite clay are that:
It’s a great cleanser that helps to remove product build up without stripping the moisture from your hair
It detoxifies by drawing out any toxins or impurities that may be on it
It conditions leaving your curls defined, soft, and very moisturized
It also treats various scalp conditions
It can be used on ALL hair types
Products Used in this video:
Aztec Secret Indian Healing Clay (100% Natural Calcium Bentonite Clay)
Bragg Organic Apple Cider Vinegar (With the Mother)
Note: I use plastic bowl and a wooden spoon because I read that metal decreases the cleansing properties of the clay. Even though there are mixed reviews on whether or not this is true, I still use them anyway.
Steps for mixing the clay (I don’t use exact measurements when mixing my clay, I try to mix equal parts until I get the consistency that I like)
I add the clay into my plastic bowl
I then add my apple cider vinegar
I mix the two together with my wooden spoon (the bubbling is normal)
Add additional clay/apple cider vinegar until you get the consistency that you want
Steps for applying to hair
I section my hair
I wet each section prior to applying the clay (it helps with application)
I start by applying the clay to my scalp and then I work my way down the rest of the hair
Once all the clay is applied in that section, I massage it in my scalp
Once all the clay is applied to my head, I leave it in for about 30-45 mins
I rinse it completely from my hair and scalp with warm water
I then add my favourite deep conditioner
I sit under the hooded dryer for approximately 45 mins and then I rinse with cool water
