Fun with Carving a Pumpkin 2014
Welcome to the 2014 Halloween pumpkin carving episode!(Read on for tips to preserve your pumpkin) Here I'm just going to show you some techniques to make the process of carving a pumpkin easier, and really make it stand out when lit. Have fun with this and be as creative as possible. This is a fun family activity so get everyone involved. Remember to save the innards of the pumpkin as there are many rockin recipes to be made with it ! Happy Halloween!

The two best ways to preserve your masterpiece are:
1. Soak your pumpkin in a pail or in the tub with water and 1 Oz. of bleach for several hours. Remove any excess liquid thereafter and allow to dry completely. The bleach inhibits the growth of mold which causes your pumpkin to collapse.
2. Apply Vaseline to any part of the pumpkin that you have cut using your finger. This will retain the pumpkins shape.
** I highly recommend doing both as you spent a lot of time with your carving! Iv'e had pumpkins last as long as 2 weeks by employing both methods!!
