Eden Camp Back to the 1940s
Eden Camp a former prisoner of war camp was built in 1942 to hold 250 Italians and later Germans in huts, 18 of which held 64 captives each. Today these and what remains of the camp is a living museum. On this first visit it was their Back to the 1940's event and as well as the usual exhibits had entertainers as well as a Bomber Command brief which I wanted to hear as it was from an actual mission to block a railway. There is so much to see in the huts it is going to need a full day just to look in each of them so I only had a quick look in them. Each one having a different theme so you can choose the ones you are most interested in. For anyone thinking of going I think it is well worth a visit to see what life was like for those living through those times and for me seeing how life working on a farm and womens timber core was.
