In this POV paragliding video I launch from a wild mountain paragliding take off on in windy conditions with speedflying wing modified to a parakite. Wind was little bit gusty and fairly strong all the time, making ground handling and take off interesting. Since the wind was peaking pretty high, take off from the summit was not the safest bet so I backed off few meters lower to give myself a nice caring to controlled take off. As with every paragliding take off - rocks on the ground are one of the the biggest nightmares. If one of the tiny paragliding lines catch on the rock and sudden wind gust pulls your paraglider off the ground you can quickly end up with snapped line or even ripped paragliding wing! Flying with damaged wing or lines is calling for paragliding gone wrong scenario! In order to stay on the safe side of paragliding it is important to always remain calm and stay focused.
Paragliding is an adventure sport that involves flying lightweight, free-flying, foot-launched glider aircraft (aka paraglider) with no rigid primary structure. The pilot sits in a harness which is connected to a wing. Paragliding wings allow us to fly from mountains and explore our beautiful earth from above!
Parakite or parakiting is a mix of two worlds. Paragliding and kiteboarding. Very similar but also very different. The system that is used to control the "parachutes" is pretty much the same in both worlds. How is parakite different to normal paragliders or speedwings? It is the way of how you can change its angle of attack. With classic paragliding wings or speedflying wings you change angle of attack by using speedbar or trimmers. With parakite (kite risers) you change angle of attack with control toggles in your hands.
Hike and fly is a hybrid adventure sport combining hiking and paragliding. Idea is to hike up to a mountain or hill with paragliding gear in backpack, and once reaching a suitable launch site or specific paragliding take off , you simply take off and fly.
