S1-96 Oscilloscope Repair. Timebase Fault.
Apparently, this is a very unusual malfunction for this oscilloscope model. The scan lines are displayed on only half the CRT screen; with further shifts, the beams converge toward a bright spot. The final stage of the horizontal deflection amplifier is at fault. The lack of voltage on the plates is due to a faulty VT24 transistor. No vertical or horizontal beam drift was detected.
