In injection molding trial, materials have to be prepared 2-10 hours in advance.
Most of the resin cannot be put into the injection molding machine directly, when for mold trial or injection molding production. Resins need to be dried in an oven for hours so that to be free of moisture. Otherwise, there will be molding issues, especially for cosmetic parts. Besides, most injection molded part will be in a specified molding color. Then we will have the resin mixed with pigment powder or pigment pellet thoroughly.
The video shows the molding master put a resin into an oven, then setting a specified cooking temperature for 4 hours. And also shows how the master mixes the pigment powder with the pellets. For low volume production and rapid tooling, pigment powder is more often used than pigment pellet. It’s more fragile and suitable for on-demand manufacturing. It’s because that if for pellet pigment, there will be MOQ requirement.
