[voice over] If equipped, the natural language voice recognition system in your Uconnect 5 radio lets you interact with your vehicle using just your voice.
You can give the system commands by either pressing the VR button on the steering wheel, or saying a “wakeup” word. The “wakeup word” is either “Uconnect,” or the brand name of the vehicle – but can be changed in the Settings tab. For example, to make a phone call, you can press the VR button, or simply say:
Hey Uconnect, call Ethan.
Use your voice to change media sources…
[Text on screen] Volume levels may vary between audio sources.
[voice over] Change source to USB.
…or tune directly to a radio station.
Tune to SiriusXM Hits 1.
With Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, you can respond to text messages, make phone calls, and play music on your smartphone.

[voice over] Voice recognition works with the available navigation system as well.
[Text on screen] Push and hold the VR button until the beep is heard to activate Apple CarPlay or Android Auto, if equipped.
[voice over] You can press the VR button, and say something like:
Drive to a library.
Then, select from the results, and you’ll be guided to your destination.
Voice navigation commands will also work on compatible iPhones or Android-powered smartphones, as long as your phone is paired with the vehicle or plugged into a USB port. And remember, cellular data must be turned on, and data plan rates do apply.
