Here is my break down of Crafting in FFXIV. This is a pretty high level overview of it to explain the mechanics of crafting in FFXIV as it is very different from other games.

What are the crafting classes?
• 8 Total - You can do them all
• Alchemist
• Armorer
• Blacksmith
• Carpenter
• Culinarian
• Goldsmith
• Leatherworker
• Weaver
How do you unlock the crafting classes?

Crafting Mini Game
• Progress
○ Syntheses actions increase Progress
○ Once you fill up your progress bar you successfully finish your craft.
• Quality
○ Touch actions increase Quality
○ Quality effects how much xp you get from the craft
○ Quality increased the chance the item will be a High Quality item
○ If you use HQ material to craft an item you will start higher on the Quality bar.
• Crafting Points
○ You regain all of your crafting points after each craft
• Durability
○ Durability is your limiting factor in crafting and the most important bar of all.
Actions
• There are three types of actions when crafting
○ Actions that increase your Progress Bar
○ Actions that Increase your Quality Bar
○ Actions for utility
