Happy Holidays and welcome back to another Gutter Rose Christmas Classic, just in time for the big day!
It was only a matter of time before Michael, Jenna, and JD tackled on of the greatest rock and roll Christmas songs of all time, "Santa Claus Is Comin to Town."
Written by J. Fred Coots and Haven Gillespie, the song became an overnight sensation in 1934 selling 30,000 copies in the first 24 hours alone! It has since been covered by dozens or artists over the past 80 years, but it wasn't until one fateful night in Brookville, NY that the song took on LEGENDARY status.
It was December 12th, 1975 when Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band played the song live in concert and it just so happened that the show was being recorded. The rest, as they say, is history.
Michael takes on the lead vocals, as well as instrumentation like piano, drums, bass, and even glockenspiel. JD's guitar and vocals solidify the song, and Jenna brings her harmonies, sense of humor, and dance skills to the big screen.
The band is joined by friend and acclaimed jazz Saxophonist Jeff Antoniuk, who helps elevate the song the a whole other world.
