THOUSANDS of rockets were fired into Israel by Hamas militants.
More than 500 Israelis have been killed and thousands have been injured since Hamas militants launched the first surprise attacks on Saturday, local media report.
Israeli military forces have declared a "state of war" after the horror unfolded.
Footage on social media shows cars and buildings up in flames, with large plumes of smoke seen from miles away.
The Israeli Air Force carried out multiple strikes on Gaza buildings said to be Hamas military targets.
The Palestinian ministry of health in Gaza said at least 300 Palestinians were killed in air strikes and over 1,700 were injured.
