How to Start an IV
Here is a nursing skills video showing you the steps to start an IV. When you are first starting out, is is going to be very overwhelming when your first chance to start an iv line comes. Intravenous lines are intimidating because you are causing initial harm to your patients. When I was new I was very scared and would freeze up and essentially mess up the whole line. Finally I realized that my patient was going to go through more pain if I did not get my act together and just focus. So, I started focusing on the steps and my outcome instead of my fears... a great iv line.
