UmattR TV Season 2025 Episode 1
UmattR is a program designed to promote positive role models among high school seniors in San Juan County, through San Juan Safe Communities initiative. This program focuses on encouraging young people to make healthy decisions, stay drug-free, and serve as leaders in their communities. Participants in UmattR are selected based on their commitment to living alcohol, tobacco, and drug-free lives, while excelling in diverse activities like sports, arts, and academics. These teens visit schools to share their stories and inspire younger students, emphasizing the importance of making good life choices and avoiding harmful behaviors.
The UmattR teens also participate in the production of UmattR TV and U-pod, the UmattR Podcast. These series highlight their efforts and activities within the community. Each episode typically features interviews with local leaders, spotlights on positive teen role models, and discussions about important social issues. The program helps foster leadership and community involvement among teens, and every participant receives a scholarship for their commitment to promoting the program's values throughout the school year.
Our 2024-2025 academic year begins with an episode of UmattR TV with team members Brig Keiser, Annie Yost, Nathan Hakes, and hosted by Makenna Stark. Each member shares a little bit about themselves and shares a story of how they navigated through a difficult time in their life. These are real stories that can serve as life lessons for our young people.
