Golden Axe (Mega Drive / Genesis) character select screen remake
The character select screen for the Sega Mega Drive / Genesis version of Golden Axe has always been one of my favorite character select screens ever since I first saw it as a kid. This is an animated concept where I tried to imagine what a modern take on that screen might look like.
The goal was to try and keep the essence of it, but to make it feel a bit more dynamic.
Since it was such a short video, I also decided to show some behind-the-scenes stuff. Surprisingly, the 3D software Autodesk Maya ended up being useful for the video, for achieving the rotating characters along with a slight scaling as well as a soft spotlight to highlight the character closest to the camera.
