Atal Bihari Vajpayee was not only an Indian politician but also a great leader, an exceptional orator, and a writer. He became the first non-Congress Prime Minister. He was elected to the Lok Sabha nine times and to the Rajya Sabha twice.
He died on August 16, 2018. Also, he was awarded India's highest civilian honour the ‘Bharat Ratna’ by the President of India in 2014. Atal Ji's birth date December 25 was also declared as Good Governance Day by the government in the same year.
Atal Bihari Vajpayee was a leader of the pro-Hindu Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and twice served as prime minister of India (1996 and 1998–2004). Under his leadership India achieved steady economic growth, and the country became a world leader in information technology.
Atal Bihari Vajpayee was awarded the India's highest civilian honour.
