1996 Nissan Sentra E.A.S.Y Starter Removal!
Showing how to remove a '96 Nissan Sentra starter without having to remove much of anything! What I did on the Starter to FIX it was flip the guts of the starter solenoid 180 and put it back in with no further problems! Comment/Message me for questions/other.
Update 10/26/2014 - Flipping the guts of the solenoid 180 degrees only lasted a good 2 months before I began having issues with it again, a few months ago from what I can remember is when I bought a new starter off of eBay for less than $40. Haven't have any problems yet with this new/rebuilt starter. You could try to replace the brushes in the starter, but the design of it is kinda screwy compared to other starters I've worked on, figured $40 is better than messing with the old one any further. If you're on a extreme tight ... budget, you could some how fab up a bypass switch across the solenoid terminals, or get a very long screw driver down in the motor (on the perfect angle) on the starter, then trip the two terminals (on the solenoid) as you have the ignition on to fire it up. Hope this video helps, I've seen other Sentra starter removals and seen people having to remove a body, or a motor to trans torque support bar out of the way in order to slide the starter out underneath, if you're really going to attempt to pull it out from the top end, have fun pulling stuff off and spending more time than getting a pair of jack stands under the rails and removing it from the under side. This is evidently the easiest way to remove a '96 Nissan Sentra starter.
