To be honest, skins really don't matter. What matters is your skill although I personally value the skins I have because I like to think that if I'm a decent player, I wouldn't want to appear in worn clothes. That's just me because I remember learning BQ and getting an A badge and being stuck with her b tiers on my old account. I had been introduced to the game when Lady Bella first came out and ofc I didn't get her because I didn't main bq first or know about skins. So that event passed and after 4 months I got into BQ, and I realized I was literally stuck with nothing but the B tiers. Then finally, her deduction costume comes back and last dance comes back as well. After waiting some more time, lady Bella returned and I got her so I finally felt complete because I had gotten an S badge. It didn't sit right with me that I had an S badge but no S tier skin so when I did get her and got the S badge back, it felt great. Then, after some account trading and buying I managed to get bloodbath and I've rocked her since. Sadly, I lost Lady Bella which I had waited so long for, but I have her on my alt account. Anyways, I went on a tangent, but all this to say that some skins can help you play better. default skins may be easier to use because it doesn't raise your ping or you're accustomed to how the mirror feels. For example, Lady Bella's mirror is very detailed and it makes seeing through it very hard. Bloodbath's mirror frame however is very thin and the mirror itself is smooth and clear so it is easier to see through it. So things like that I have noticed could change your play style but skins aren't a requirement. At the end of the day they're just an accessory.
