750MC Finishline UK Classic Stock Hatch Round 11 - Mallory Park - 6 October 2024
Race 1 of the Championship Finals raceday. I was way off in outright pace, qualifying 8th for both races, and praying for rain that didn't quite arrive in time for this one. Bullied my way up to 4th on the first lap and that was the maximum I could have hoped for until a late, light drizzle brought one of the leading cars back to me for a last ditch podium push.
Had 55kg of success ballast in the car that maybe could account for the lack of pace. 4th would have been fair, 3rd was a miracle given I could only muster the 9th fastest lap! Nice close battle with my old sparring partner Lee Scott, always a pleasure.
Impressive runs from Ryan Clarke and Titch Kelsall. Names I don't often see ahead of me, but both finally showing the pace that's always been threatening to break out! Lost ground to Stewart Place as he collected win number 6 on the season, but the last gasp pass kept the championship somewhat alive with 1 race to go!
