How Psychological Persuasion Exploits Those They Influence
Every day we are all influenced by ads, political propoganda, dark patterns, along with the Machiavellianism, psychopathy, and narcissism used by some to manipulate others. Tactics like love bombing, lying, love denial, and information restriction, such as claiming where to find facts which they say or others may write. Their "truth" though is misguided.
The use of dark patterns such as:
, to manipulate users into making decisions they wouldn't otherwise make.
Confirmshaming: Adding negative connotations to actions that the designer doesn't want to be taken, such as doing your own research.
Guilt: Using wording that causes the user to doubt their thinking and choices.
Forced action: Forcing others through their words to behave in undesirable ways to achieve what they want.
along with dark psychology can be used in many settings. And victims have no clue this is happening to them.
