OUR WORST SCORE YET // DRESSAGE
So, dressage was... interesting.
So Sox was having a bit of a panicky day today, he was very upset for some reason and didn’t want to settle, and unfortunately this reflected in our marks today. We came away with the worst marks we’ve ever gotten to date 😥. But that is the nature of the beast I suppose.
I don’t blame Sox for his tenseness today. He is a horse, he doesn’t actively try to ruin dressage tests. He reacts to his surroundings and how he feels and how I feel. My anxious feelings towards dressage must have been translating to him somewhere down he line. So we’re both at fault here but one there is one thing that I am happy about, our free walk...
We had poor consistency, but rode accurately, our rhythm was an issue but his free walks were fab. I don’t care if the sheet says ‘5’ I’m super happy with his free walks in these two tests. He took the contact down and showed off his beautiful over track. We may have had a bad day today but I personally feel we were better at something we’re normally not so good at so that’s a bonus to me, even if he judge didn’t agree 😅.
And he looked beautiful, such a fantastic condition on him at the moment 😍. In Sox’ defence, he hasn’t been ridden much at all this week because I was paranoid, so to ask him to come out and compete after no work for a week is quite a lot. Most people say horses mellow in their old age, Sox doesn’t get ridden for a week and he reverts to a 4 year old 😂🤦♀️. He’s going to be 22 next month!! 🤣
