Making 98% Sulfuric Acid by Distillation
Warning: boiling hot sulfuric acid is a way bigger deal than concentrated sulfuric acid at room temperature. It can cause instant severe chemical burn upon contact.
We are preparing 98% sulfuric acid for the Nitration projects. I tried with less concentrated sulfuric acid (by evaporating some of the water, the density test show it is 80%), No luck, it seems the installation of the third nitro group requires a critical anhydrous condition. So here I am doing the worst distillation that I have ever dealt with.
Don't worry I was not injured in the accident, even though the flask cracked after all, the content in it did not leak or anything. I got lucky this time. Oh God, how long am I gonna survive through doing all those crap.
