Blugubrious – Long While Blues (Song)
From 2012. I went through a phase of trying to be more authentically bluesy years ago – we included lots of stuff in our live show like Albert King and Howlin’ Wolf... I have the guts for it. But I don’t actually pursue playing blues that much anymore. I prefer to write more rockish/melodic stuff. This tune was still as I was trying to learn how to sing, so the vocals are pretty weak. But the meaning of the tune was very real at the time. I was going through a rough patch internally and the song reflects it. I thought it made sense that I had the blues for real and I should probably put that on tape (hard drive).
Nothing to write home about here. The recording is thrown together, not a lot of effort to make it sound good, it was more about feelings than anything. I meant it, for whatever that is worth. So look past the performance and get to the heart.
