Senator Shaheen: A Reflection on the NATO Summit
Heads of State and Government officials from across the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) came together in Washington, DC this week to discuss the future of the alliance. On the agenda were the critical issues of strengthening defense and deterrence, raising financial commitments, and, perhaps most importantly, continuing to respond to Russian aggression in Ukraine. The alliance members grappled with many consequential decisions and the outcome of this summit will chart the path forward on a wide range of security issues.
As the discussions come to a close on July 11th, the World Affairs Council of New Hampshire proudly welcomes Senator Jeanne Shaheen for a fireside chat, followed by an audience Q&A, to reflect on the outcomes of NATO's summit. Senator Shaheen restarted the Senate NATO Observer Group in 2018 with Senator Thom Tillis, leading the way in supporting this alliance and its goals. She also sits on the Senate Armed Services and Foreign Relations committees, further situating her at the forefront of U.S. foreign policy and international engagement.
