This is a really original arrangement on the theme from Reinhold Gliere's opera "The Red Poppy." I don't know if it his original theme or if he quoted an existing folk melody in his opera. The lyrics are actually quite political & 'iron curtain' inspired,
Hey, you little apple, where are you rolling off to?
There's no door there (in foreign lands),
If you get caught there's no return home.
