Blacklighting Sheet Time Lapse
This video highlights the insects that came to my backyard blacklighting setup over about 5 hours the evening of August 16-17, 2015. You'll see moths, beetles, a large parasitic wasp, crickets, katydids, and lots of true bugs. Look for a damsel bug hunting on the sheet in the last 30 seconds!
The blue light comes from the blacklight CFL bulb that I shine onto a white cotton bedsheet that fits onto a custom PVC frame. Images were taken with a Canon Powershot G12 using an intervalometer to take a 1 second shot every 10 seconds. The shots were then combined at 15 frames per second into the video you see here.
