How To Create a 4 Port USB Midi Host From a Raspberry Pi
I have been busy writing some Python Script to make it easier for you to create your own USB Midi Host from a Raspberry Pi. You can buy dedicated USB Midi Hosts but they can be a little pricey and you only seem to be able to connect one or two devices as a rule. If you have a Raspberry Pi you can create a 4 port USB Midi Host. I will put the code up on my Patreon Channel for you to download if you want to give it a try. In this video I will show you how it works and to paying Patreons you have the extra benefit of having access to the Mapping version that I have created. This gives you ability to choose which of your devices maps to an other device.
I would be careful trying to power too power hungry devices from the Raspberry pi. Devices like the Pro VS Mini and the MPK Mini keyboard are fine, they don't draw much power.
With the mapping version because you need a computer keyboard plugged in to make the mappings; if you want to map 4 devices then do 2 at a time and save the mapping before you connect the next 2 devices. Also exit the mapping script before switching out devices. Once you have mapped all 4 devices reboot the Raspberry pi, it should then pick up all 4 devices.
