Nathan the Wise is the title and main character of a five-act Enlightenment-era drama by Gotthold Ephraim Lessing, published in 1779 and premiered in Berlin on April 14, 1783. The work focuses on humanism and the Enlightenment ideals of tolerance. The Ring Parable in the third act of the drama is particularly famous.
